2021 Week 27

Starting this week still in Demre, I happily made my way back to Antalya and Belek for our final preparation camp into Tokyo 2020.

There’s so much to explore around the Antalya province and the coastline, even after being here for years I still have a lot of places to check off. On Monday, on the way back to Belek I finally stopped over at Phaselis, which is just below Tahtalı mountain. Despite spending many weekends on the mountain I’d never explored the ruins and bay there, which was quite a lovely spot for swimming actually!

After the cooldown swim in Phaselis it was onwards to Belek, and the fabulous Gloria Sports Arena. Home for the last 4+ years, although sadly less so since March 2020. We’ll do our taper camp here, along with Energy Standard teammates Victoria Gunes🇹🇷 and Felipe Lima🇧🇷. It’s great to do the last few weeks in a beautiful location but even more important somewhere you can relax and feel stress-free.

Running wise, I’ve been trying now to get a good rhythm going and build some consistency since all the lockdowns and quarantines.

Basically Feb-Mar-Apr-May were a struggle, but finally this week I went over 100km for the first time since early February

As Kregor met me in Gloria he brought our Team Estonia Olympic kit with him, I think it looks pretty good, actually - although the pants are too tight for my calfs 🤦‍♂️. Actually his video below was featured in the official Olympic channel.
