2022 Week 3 - Coronado ๐๐บ๐ธ
This is the first week of our season after Abu Dhabiโฆ although having said that, all of the athletes are on individual programs, so itโs not actually the first week for all of them - Chadโs task for January, for example, is to just log 200k (an average of 50k/week) however he wants. The idea is that this provides some freedom to take weekends off etc.
For me though, itโs my first week back on deck since Abu Dhabi (World SCM), so in my head itโs the first week of the season. I spent the first two weeks of 2022 out in Arizona running around the desert and getting in some races (26k and 52k).
This week I have two swimmers from Energy Standard here with me in Coronado, CA where we are starting out season very low-key and relaxed. We are able to train outdoors here, and they can also explore the area as somewhat of a โtraincationโ, Iโve also encouraged them to bring their partners with them for this portion of the trip. Our relaxed week hit about 30k.
Personally, I spent the beginning of the week recovering from my first ultra-marathon in 3-years (52km at the Coldwater Rumble), then built up to averaging over 20k/day for the last 3 days of the week. Hopefully I can put in 2 good weeks before a quick rest into the Black Canyon 100k.
